Homework for the week of November 1, 2010

Can you believe it, we have come to November already? I am really pleased with how well the students are settling into our routine. This week, we will have a guidance lesson on Tuesday, November 2nd. Conferences will also be held on Tuesday from 4:00-6:00. If you would like a conference, please contact me so we can set up a time to discuss your child's progress. Our new marking period will start on Wednesday and on Friday, November 5th, report cards will be sent home with your child. Please sign the bottom portion of the report card and send it back to school on Monday.

This week we will be starting a new unit in reading. We will be studying smart solutions. We will be reading the story Penguin Chick and will have our test on Friday. In grammar, we will be studying common and proper nouns. Our test will be on Friday. This week in spelling, we will be studying the syllable patterns V/CV and VC/V. Our pretest will be on Wednesday and our final test will be on Friday. This week in math, we will be focusing on adding multiples of 10 to a number using mental computation, ordering three-digit numbers, writing number sentences, and counting quarters. There will be a fact assessment on Wednesday and a written assessment on Thursday. In science we will be reviewing for our test on Wednesday and continuing to measure our bush beans and graph their growth.

Math - Homework 33B & Fact Practice 33B

Reading - Read story and review vocabulary.

Science - Study vocabulary and review concepts.

Tuesday

Spelling - Write words 5x's each and study for pretest.

Math - Oral fact practice, fact homework, and homework 34

Reading - Read story and study vocabulary.

Science - Study vocabulary and review concepts. Test tomorrow.

Wednesday

Spelling - Corrections 10x's each

Math - Homework 35B and fact homework 35B

Reading - Read story and study vocabulary

Thursday

Spelling - Study for test.

Reading - Read story and study vocabulary for test.

Friday

Sign tests in Friday folder and report card. Please return bottom of report card and tests on Monday.
