Homework for the week of May 2, 2011

Thank you for checking our homework helpline. This is going to be a very busy week. We will be working on the story Suki's Kimono. We will continue to compare and contrast items and work on making predictions. Our reading test will take place on Friday, May 6th.

In grammar, we are working on adjectives and articles as well as comparative and superlative forms of adjectives. Our grammar test will take place on Friday as well.

In spelling, we are focusing on the spelling words with the CVVC and CVV patterns. Our pretest will take place on Wednesday, May 4th and our final spelling test will be on Friday, May 6th.

We will be exploring evaporation in science this week. We will place several containers in different locations thoughout the school and record the air temperature several times daily. At the end of the week, we will determine where the most evaporation took place.

Please continue to pactice the multiplication facts with your child. We will be having a fact assessment (multiplying by 4) on Tuesday and another multiplication fact assessment on Wednesday as well as a written test. We will be learning how to identify perpendicular lines and line segments, writing multiplication and division fact families, writing a four-digit number in expanded form, and adding money amounts and writing checks up to $99,999.99.
