Homework for the week of August 29, 2011

Thank you for checking our homework helpline. Each Monday I will post the homework that the students will have each evening. I will also send home a homework sheet that you can keep on hand. I would recommend checking our homework helpline often for important announcements and possible homework changes.

In addition to posting the daily homework, you will also find our spelling words and reading vocabulary posted on the left hand side of the homework helpline.

This week the students will not have any written homework. We will start our reading story, Sam, Come Back!, on Thursday. We will have a reading test on Friday, September 9th. Our test will consist of vocabulary words as well as comprehension questions that will focus on our story, Sam, Come Back!

We will also have a spelling test on Friday, September 9th. Our pretest will take place on Thursday, September 8th. Your child will bring their spelling words home on Thursday, September 1st.

In phonics we will be working on the short a sound and the final ck sound.

In math, we will be working on identifying what mathematicians do, making towers for the numbers 1-5, writing the numbers 1, 4, and 5, making towers for the numbers 1-9, and ordering the numbers 0-9.

In grammar, we will be identifying sentences. Our test will take place on Friday, September 9th.

No homework for the students.

Thursday Today we will start reading, Sam, Come Back! Please take some time to read this story with your child. In addition, we put our first set of spelling words in our notebook. There will be no written homework for the students this evening.

Friday No homework this evening.

Reminders On Friday, we will have an assembly on Bullying.
