Welcome back to the second week of school. I hope everyone enjoyed the long holiday weekend. We will have a very busy week ahead.
Reading – This week I will continue to gather more
information on each child’s reading ability. This information will be used to
set up reading groups so I can meet student needs.
Writing – We will be working on using capital letters
and punctuation when writing.
Math – I will be introducing small groups to the students. We
will discuss our routine and expectations on how groups should run smoothly and
properly within our classroom. During this time, we will also focus our
attention on addition. You will be seeing math worksheets coming home, but your child will not have math worksheets for homework at this time. Please practice the addition
flashcards each evening with your child.
Science – We will continue working on the solar
system. This week’s focus will be on the sun. We will be completing an
experiment outside. We will explore what happens to a crayon when placed in direct
sunlight.
Reminders
Students
will be going outside for recess daily (weather permitting). Please be sure
that your child is dressed appropriately.
