Reading – This week we will start focusing
on our first reading story, The Twin Club. Your child will bring their book
home tomorrow. Please cover the reading book by the end of the week.
Starting this week in class, some students will be getting
different homework. Please check your child’s folder for a decodable reader and
reading packet. Please sign the red stamps that state “Parent Signature” after
reading 3x’s.
Writing – We are still writing friendly letters to
each other. This week we are working on a friendly letter to our principal, Ms.
Whitaker.
Math – Thank you for practicing the math
flashcards with your child. I am noticing a big difference since the beginning
of the school year! The students are doing a great job with addition. We will
have our first math assessment next Tuesday, October 2nd.
Science – Our focus this week is on the sun
and why it is important to life on Earth.
The students did a great job this past week with our PBIS behavior
system. This week we are focusing on being respectful. If your child comes home
with a “dress down ticket”, they are permitted to wear what they would like.
Please keep in mind that it should be appropriate for school. This means clothing
without holes, no inappropriate language, no flip-flops or tank tops. There is
no fee for these PBIS dress down days.
Our field trip will take place
on Thursday. We will be going to Lake Tobias in Halifax. Please see the letter
that was sent home in your child’s folder today. Should you have any questions,
please feel free to contact me.
Reminders
Students
will be going outside for recess daily (weather permitting). Please be sure
that your child is dressed appropriately.
Due
to having a late lunch, our class will be having a snack mid-morning. Please
send a snack into school with your child each day.
