Class News for the Week of November 13, 2017

This Week's Focus

Reading – This week we will be finishing up our story, A Walk in the Desert. We will be taking our reading assessments tomorrow, November 14^th. Our next story, The Strongest One is a play and it will focus on facts and details.

Writing – We are working on writing narratives. Please have your child write stories at home. Please encourage them to have the following things when writing sentences: capital letters, punctuation, and ask “Does my sentence make sense?”

Math – Please continue to practice the addition flashcards at home. The students are doing a great job!! This week we will be focusing on place value to 100. We will have a math test next week before leaving for Thanksgiving break.

Science – This week we will be starting a new science unit. The focus of this unit will be on weather.

Reminders

The children go outside for recess each day. Please be sure that your child has a coat, gloves, scarf, and a hat.

Please be mindful of our policy here at NSE- if your child misses 4 homework assignment in one month, there will be consequences.

Also, students are required to bring their HORSE folder to school each day. Please check your child’s backpack each morning to be sure it is returned. Thank you!
