Thank you for checking our homework helpline. This will be a very busy week. In reading, we are working on the story Rocks in His Head. We are working on generalizing and activating prior knowledge. We will be having our reading test on Friday, April 8th. Also, this week in reading, we are trying something new. For homework on Tuesday, each child will bring home a decodable reader. Please sign this book stating you and your child have read through it.
In spelling we are working on spelling words with the following prefixes: pre-, mid-, out-, and over-. Our pretest will be on Wednesday, April 6th and our regular test will take place on Friday, April 8th.
In grammar we are defining and identifying possessive pronouns. Our test will take place on Friday, April 8th.
In science we are continuing to work with water. This week we are freezing water and observing what happens to it. Will it expand, contrast, float, or sink? So many questions that we need to answer. A science test will take place the week of April 11, 2011.
In math we will be comparing and ordering fractions, multiplying by 3, identifying units of weights, and subtracting money amounts. A division fact assessment will take place on Tuesday, April 5 and a written and another fact assessment will take place on Wednesday. Please continue to practice the multiplication and division facts with your child.
Book orders are due on April 8th and we will also have an assembly on this date for the money that was raised for the "Coins for Critters".
